The UNFPA Representative has arrived to the capital of Bashkortostan to attend the All-Russia Workshop "Demographic Development of Russia and its regions”, carried out within the 15 th anniversary of the adoption of the Cairo Programme of Action on population and development.

During the meeting the issues of social and demographic development of Bashkortostan were discussed. The parties considered the mechanisms of state support and further development of the family as the most important factor contributing to the solution of demographic problems in society.

President of Bashkortostan Murtaza Rakhimov told about the measures taken in the country to protect public health, increase fertility, reduce mortality, support for large families. According to the head of the Republic, Bashkortostan pays much attention to support of the high status of mothers.

- In recent years, we have much to do to protect large families, assist parents in their difficult work of raising children. For this we have introduced a number of additional benefits, which still are lacking in many other regions of Russia, - said Murtaza Rakhimov.
